Some pellet stove and wood stove installations demand more from the floor beneath them. When a heat shield isn't part of the equation — or when you're working with an older stove or certain high-efficiency models — ember protection alone isn't enough. You need a hearth pad engineered to handle heat as well, and that means stepping up to a Type 2.
This fully non-combustible Type 2 hearth pad is rated at an R-value of 2.24 or 1.592, forming a substantial thermal barrier between your stove and the subfloor below.
