All traditional hearth pads are manufactured as Type 2 (Ember Protection and Thermal Protection) and are not available as a Type 1 (Ember Protection only).
If your pellet stove or wood stove doesn't use a heat shield; or if you have an older model, you may need a hearth pad that protects against both heat and embers. In that case, a Type 2 hearth pad is what you need.
This fully non-combustible pad has an R-value of 2.24 or 1.592, which blocks heat from reaching your subfloor and exceeds the minimum Type 2 requirement of R-value 1.0 — giving you reliable protection and added peace of mind.
